Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

Well as most of you know I'll have my license in about a week which means ill be needing a car. Now at the moment i make about 450-500$ a month from my part time job while i go to school. Ill be starting a new job over at Investors Group as a Financial advisor probably around Sept. Ill be making more money but it works on commision so ill be making 0$ until i bring in clients which requires driving more but ill still have the same income because ill still be working at my part time job. Because of this milage is more or less important but so is comfortability. Now i already have 2000$ saved up so far and that gives me a couple of choices. 1. The economic Choice. 1997 Honda Civic DX Pros: - Small - Good on Gas - Reliable Cons: - I hate civics - Difficult for me to fit in but still comfy (I'm 6'3 and 175lbs) - Its a civic... Cost: 3000$ -2000$ Cash + 1000$ Line of credit 2. My Sweet ass Choice. 1993 Nissan Skyline Pros: - So easy to fit in. - Super nice car - Fast fucking car Cons: - Cost of ownership(insurance alone is 500$ a year more) - ... nothing else... Cost: 5500$ - 2000$ Cash + 3500$ Line of credit So thats the basic costs now here is the insurance costs for the two cars Civic: 550$/Year Skyline: 950$/Year As far as gas goes here are the other two stats Civic: 100$/month Skyline: 160$/month The reason its more for the skyline is 1. its a Turbo charged engine with almost 100 hp more and 2. its a kick ass car so ill be driving it more and taking it to the track on weekends. Now the decision; I am leaning towards the skyline but what i would like is either A. reasurrance of my decision or B. a slap in the face saying its stupid and my heavy foot is blinding my decision. What say you... PS: I love skylines... |

I'd choose the skyline myself, just be careful when you're looking for a used car with a turbo. Some (if not most) kids like to thrash these kinds of cars around, and a high mileage car with a turbo can bring in a huge repair bill if something goes. I'm sure glitch will be on later to give his advice |

BTW forgot to mention I'm pretty good with cars. I plan to work on it myself. Plus i can get parts at discount usually so reliability isn't INSANELY important.. i just dont like being late getting places lol Edited Tue Apr 22 2008, 05:18PM

i hate to say it but get the honda. With $2000 your not looking for anything flashy and if you are... well i'm not even gonna respond to that. If you really want to get a nice fast car buy the honda work your job and save up. Just a waste of money if ya ask me.

Why do you say its a waste of money? The way i look at it is, within 3 months ill be working there and buying the Honda turns into a waste because 3 months later i cant get what i paid for it. but 3 months later with the Skyline and i can get what i paid for it as Skylines are in large demand in montreal

its a 93 skyline.. there just isn't that much demand for anything that old. You ain't gonna be able to sell either of them for all that much. Look at your own stats.. the skyline is near double on insurance(pointless) and honda gets way better gas mileage. I'm not even a fan of honda but i still know these cheap hondas are pretty damn reliable cars. \ also if your only driving it for 3 months..correct me if i read that wrong.. but if this is the situation then go buy a fuckin geometro or a festiva Edited Tue Apr 22 2008, 05:41PM |

Dont listen to all that certified bullshit. Its a used car. The dealership slapped the word certified on the used car so they can sell you the car for more money. If you dont believe me then you need to realize the world runs on money, and the world makes all their decisions based on how much money they can make for the lesser cost. What they do is a routine inspection check to see if anything major is wrong with the car. Most pass. Buying a certified pre-owned car is like marrying a divorced wife. She's not divorced, she's certified pre-fucked. Sure... Listen to me. (Ok well you dont have to listen lol..) But at least take some time to consider what im saying. You just started driving. Your are EXTREMELY prone to getting into a first accident. Whether its your fault or not. Dont tell me how good a driver you are. It dont matter. Chances are, you will get into one. Now answer me this. Would you rather total your honda, or your skyline? And what kind of insurance are you getting? Liability or full coverage? And having collision dont mean shit either. Listen. My advice to you is to buy the honda. I hate honda's too, but at least its a 97... One of my favorite body styles they made. And its a DX not an LX. By having this car, you wont have so much to worry about with credit, you will have a car great on gas, a car that works and gets you from point A to point B, isnt too shabby looking, lower on insurance, and if wrecked it wont hurt your heart too much lol.. My friend dished out 6k of his hard earned money to buy a nice 300ZX... only for a stupid bitch on a cell phone to slam into him while he was pulling out the driveway two weeks later. He didnt have collision and he had to scrap the car. It mostly wasnt his fault since she wasnt paying attention. Lesson learned. While having the civic, you can take care of your responsibilities, and save your money even longer. Build your credit history, and buy a nice spanking new sports car later on down the road (preferably 1-3 years later). Now i know what your thinking... OMG THATS SO FAR AWAY WTF.... Well yes your right it is... But thats when the good shit starts happening in your life when you wish you had a brand new nice sports car. Take it from me (currently 20 and wishing he listened to his own advice). My friend's first car was a 1990 Nissan Sentra. 98hp. Beat up. Sounded like a go-kart. However, out of all our cars in our nice group of friends... his was the most loved. His was the best. It has neon light speakers and it was just a party vehicle.. Oh and he banged 6 different girls in it. So trust me man, you WILL have LOADS of fun in that civic. Its so worth it. If i was able to go back in time, i would change what i did in a heartbeat. |
